Walter Robert Hall, 76, of Shenandoah, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Shenandoah Heights, where he was resident for the past year.
Born on June 7, 1947, at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, he was the son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Retalik) Hall.
Walter was a 1965 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School where he was a standout football, baseball, and basketball player. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the U.S.S. Pocono LCC 16. After his discharge, he became involved with the Shenandoah Youth Football League “Midgets” and coached little league baseball. Besides his love for sports, Walter was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially liked to go fly fishing and bowhunting with his two sons. Walter was a journeyman electrician for Silicon Power Control, GR Noto, and Albarell Electric. He last worked for the Mahanoy Area School District in their maintenance department.
He is survived by his wife, Roseann (Popalis) Hall, 2 sons – Michael Hall and Walter Hall with his wife Jill; 2 grandchildren – Jacob and Madeline; a brother – Jerry Hall, and 4 rescue animals – Alex, Leo, Bruno, and Winston.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
