It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Lee Carpenetti, age 68, announces her passing after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Hazleton on September 29, 1953, to parents Leo and Shirley Gosdick.
Sandra was a 1971 graduate of West Hazleton High School. Upon graduating, she pursued an education at Pennsylvania State University where she graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
Sandra held various nursing positions throughout her career as a nurse. She is best known for her dedication working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she was employed until the hospital closed. It was there that Sandra felt at home and formed many long-lasting friendships with her fellow nurses and doctors.
Sandra resided in Mountain Top, Pa, for most of her life. She found happiness and joy in her home and working in her garden. She loved gourmet cooking, baking, and planting flowers. Sandra took pride in everything she did, but mostly in decorating her home, especially at Christmas. She also loved traveling, reading, and spending time with her beloved dogs.
Sandra is survived by the light of her life, her fiancé and caretaker, Anthony Palina of Frackville, PA and his sons Anthony and Nicholas Palina. She is also survived by her loving sister Cheryl Damico and her husband Daniel of Hazleton. She is preceded in death by her parents and both her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Arrangements are under the care of the Oravitz Home for Funerals, Shenandoah.
Friends are invited to celebrate Sandra’s life at a Christian burial service on Tuesday, Dec 21st at 10am at Mt. View Cemetery, West Hazleton.
