Samuel Litwak Obituary

Samuel Litwak, 102, of Ringtown, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Shenandoah on March 22, 1922, he was the son of the late Paul and Anastasia (Hudyncia) Litwak.

Sam was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He served throughout the Philippines and Japan, and in 1945 he was witness to the Japanese surrender.

Throughout his lifetime, Sam was involved in various occupations; knitting mill mechanic, television repair man, partnered with his brother Paul’s New York City manufacturing business, and eventually retired from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Sam enjoyed horseracing, vegetable gardening, and he was known to love running errands and helping his family and friends in any way he could. He was dedicated to family and loyal to friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Banonis) Litwak in 2023, his son, Samuel P. Litwak in 2018, 7 brothers- Stephen, Joe, John, Metro, Mike, Peter, and Paul Litwak, and 2 sisters- Mary Prybolsky and Julia Litwak.

His surviving family includes one son, Robert Litwak with his wife Christina – Perkasie, Pa., two daughters, Audrey Reese with her husband John – Ringtown, Pa., and Patricia Monaghan – Exton, Pa., one brother, Alfred Litwak with his wife Sally – Minnesota, four grandchildren – Tyler (with Deneen), Bobby, Gwen, and Elise, two great- grandchildren – Charlotte and Jackson, son in-law Bob Monaghan, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 24 from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00am. Interment will be held at 1:00pm in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pa.
