Pearl Ann Schwan, 73, formerly of Harrisburg and a resident of Providence Place in Pine Grove, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.
Born on February 24, 1952, in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Skirchak) Krupko.
Pearl was a 1970 graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School, then attended McCann’s School of Business and Harrisburg Area Community College where she earned high honors. She then worked 34 years as a secretary for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Department of Public Welfare. Outside of her career, Pearl did volunteer work for several years for the Central PA Food Bank and for Hospice of Central PA, both in Harrisburg.
She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church in Harrisburg where she served on the Council of Catholic Women. Pearl was also a member and former President of the Lower Paxton Township Lioness Club in Harrisburg. As a little nuance, Pearl loved collecting teddy bears.
Besides her parents, Pearl was preceded by her husband Leander Schwan in 2013.
Her surviving family includes her sister- Anna Marie Mucha with her husband Ron of Frackville, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, June 30th from 9 to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be conducted at 11am in the funeral home by Deacon Dave Henninger. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
