Joseph M. DeLuca, 88, of Shenandoah, passed away on Saturday, February 5th, 2022.
Joe was born on November 29th, 1933, to Neil and Cele (Reznik) DeLuca. He attended public schools and graduated from West Mahanoy Township High School in 1950.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He started working for Shenandoah Lumber Company in 11th grade and then worked the next 57 years until they closed. He then opened his own little repair shop called Mr. Fix It in Shenandoah. Joe was known for his humor and pleasing personality. He was an avid golfer and a fan of the Yankees and Eagles.
A devout catholic, he belonged to Divine Mercy Parish, formerly St. Stanislaus Church. Joe was a member of the Holy Name Society and was an usher at St. Stanislaus.
He was preceded by his parents, a daughter, Joestelle Dunsavage in 2018, and a brother Louis and his wife Janet.
He is survived by his loving wife, Estelle, they were married on November 23rd, 1958, and spent 64 years together. Joe is also survived by his granddaughter, whom he adored, Dr. Angelica Dunsavage-Chouinard with her husband Joe. Nieces, Kathy Molnar and Chuck Shaulis, Suzie Taylor and Bill, Barbara Carduff and Frank, Louise Bekisz and Dave, Donna Donchak and Rick, and Debbie Smith. Nephews, John Molnar and Mary, Bill Molnar and Sandra, and Neil and Frank DeLuca, along with a son-in-law, Ray Dunsavage, also Frankie, Matthew, Aaron, Dereck, Molly and Aubrey.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 10th from 8 to 9:30am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am in Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Worship Site – St. Casimir’s, 229 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Interment will immediately follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
