John J. Williams, 68, of Pottsville, peacefully passed away on Tuesday following a brief illness.
He was born in Hazleton on March 7, 1956, to the late Theodore and Rita Rose (Bane) Williams.
Preceding him in death were his parents and four siblings. Ted Williams, Gerry Williams, Rita Williams Holman, and Mary Lou Williams Buchinsky. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
John was a devout member of the Church of St. Patrick in Pottsville. He was a 1974 Shenandoah Valley High School graduate, where he excelled in several sports. John was Inducted in 2017 to the Shenandoah Valley Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from Penn State University with an Associate Degree in Business Administration, and he had previously been employed by Beneficial Finance, Community Banks, and the Schuylkill County Domestic Relations Office, where he ultimately retired.
Growing up in Shenandoah, John cultivated a passion for boxing, competing in and winning numerous amateur bouts. He was an avid supporter of Penn State football and Philadelphia sports teams. He took great pride in and enjoyed coaching his sons’ sports teams.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Beth Ludinsky: his two sons, Joshua of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Zachary along with his fiancee, Sarah, of Ashburn, Virginia; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will gather on Saturday morning, April 27th, from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be held at 11:00am and will be officiated by Rev. Ronald J. Minner. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
