James R. Weikel, 42, of South Carolina, passed away on December 4, 2024.
James was born in Pottsville, Pa on October 4, 1982. He was a graduate of North Schuylkill High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. With over 16 years of service, he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant, did 2 tours in Iraq, was Army Airborne, and was a drill sergeant for 2 years. He spent over 6 months in New Orleans on a search and rescue mission after Hurricane Katrina.
He was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed hunting, 4 wheeling, fishing with his grandfather, and spending time with his daughters.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Bill and Carrie Weikel, his maternal grandmother- Alicia Ratkiewicz, and grandfather- Earl Lindenmuth
The surviving family includes his parents- Lisa and Ted Lindenmuth of Ringtown, his father- James Weikel Sr. of Zion Grove; his daughters- Cora Weikel of Maine and Renee Weikel of North Carolina; his stepson- Cameron Giasson of Maine; his grandson; Elijah Drake of North Carolina; his sisters- twin sister Jackie Weikel (Luke Timmons) of Oneida, Crystal Ennis (Joseph) of Ringtown, Jessica Lerch (Cody) of Fountain Springs, and Jamie Zelonis of Frackville; his grandfather- Frank Ratkiewicz of Ringtown; his grandmother- Creta Lindenmuth of Ringtown; his ex-wife and dear friend- Angie Drake of Maine; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 28th from 9 to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Burial with military honors will be conducted at 12pm in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Ringtown.
