Obituary

Frances Barbara (Yadusky) Karas, formerly of Shenandoah and a resident of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the age of 101.

Born in Shenandoah, August 5, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Crishock) Yadusky. She married the late Edward Michael Karas in 1938 and together they raised six daughters in Shenandoah. Her husband died in 1998.

Frances was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah and formerly a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah.  She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church Rosary, Sacred Heart & Third Order Societies, and the church choir.

The simplest pleasures in life: cleaning, reading, singing, dancing, drawing, watercolors, sewing, caring for elderly friends and neighbors, reciting poetry, supporting the missions, and entertaining her grandchildren, brought the greatest joy to her life.

In 2006 Frances left her beloved family home and moved to Allentown and then Pittsburgh.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and her husband, were her sisters, Florence Parillo (Victor), Isabel Sapeta, brothers, William Yadusky (Florence), Walter Yadusky (Connie) and sons-in-law, Charles Utz, Howard Lynn Millard, William Shepard, and Denis Manchon.

Frances is survived by six daughters, Sister Marilyn Karas - RSM, Dallas, PA, Elisabeth Utz, Erie, Teresa Karas (Jim Martin), Lutherville, MD, Ann Karas, Pittsburgh, Lucille Karas Jacobs (Tom Jacobs), Silver Spring, MD, and Cecelia Karas (Alberto Delia), Cresaptown, MD.

Grandchildren, Nathan Millard, Pittsburgh, Sarah Millard, Upper Falls, MD, Charles Utz, and Daniel Utz, Cambridge Springs, PA, Lauren Shepard Williams (Cory), and Ted Jacobs (Emily Short), Pacific Grove, CA.

Great grandchildren, Mae Ann, Ada Eudora and Eve Audrey Williams.

Nieces, Marlene Bouzida (Abby), Barbara Fish, Danielle Lettieri (Ron), Christine Hall (Steve), Carol Santucci, Donna Daros, and Nanette Binder.
