Carmella Marie (Stanell) Kayes Kovalesky was born 06-19-1929 in Shenandoah and was the beloved daughter of Mike and Mary (Fersullo) Stanell.
Through Carmella’s high school years, she worked at her grandfather, Joseph Fersullo’s, peanut shop on the corner of Main and Center street. Carmella married Bernard Kayes and had 4 children Michael, Rosemary, Dianne, and Bernie. After 10 years of a wonderful marriage, he was taken away due to cancer. While raising her children, she worked as a seamstress and then became floor lady overseeing all work at Debbie Jo Frocks. She built her home and resided in Shenandoah heights for 45 years. She then moved to Allentown to be near her daughter.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard Kayes; daughter, Rosemary (Kayes) Jacobs; son, Bernie Kayes; brothers James and Joseph and parents Mike and Mary.
She is survived by her son, Michael Kayes and daughter in law MaryAnn Kayes; daughter, Dianne Marie Moyer and partner Kris Snyder; grandchildren, Michael Kayes, Michelle Moyer, Robert Jacobs and partner Bonni Conrad, Nichole and husband Cody Snyder, Sean and wife Elizabeth Moyer and her great grandchildren; Ava, Elle, Sawyer, Jack and Brooks.
Private services will be held at the request of the family.
