Brian Edward Flanigan passed from this life and back into the loving arms of God on April 23rd, 2024. Brian was born to Dr. John L. Flanigan Jr. and Kathryn Louise (Schneider) Flanigan on July 16th, 1959, in Pottsville, PA. He was the third son and fourth child in a family of five children.

Brian attended St. Patrick’s School, Pottsville Middle School and graduated from Pottsville High School in 1977.

Brian loved God, life, and loved to make people laugh with his many jokes and stories. He was the” life of the party” and his nieces and nephews couldn’t wait until he arrived at gatherings because he made everything fun. Brian touched many with his generosity not only with gifts, but with his time and providing help with his various contracting, masonry, and mechanical skills. He was the sibling that took time to call and connect to Cousins, Uncles/Aunts, In-laws, and his many friends on a regular basis.

Brian was an outdoorsman and enjoyed all kinds of sports, namely, football, baseball, golf, skiing, swimming, hunting, fishing, cycling, and waterskiing. In his early 20’s became an avid skier, ski racing and coaching in Stowe, Vermont and later in Telluride, Colorado. Brian was also a “grease monkey” and loved to work on cars and trucks, even worked as a detailer. Early in life, Brian developed a great love for building and construction. One of his first jobs as a young 15-year-old was with Cresswell Brother Builders and Construction Co. He honed his experience at work and became a skilled craftsman, carpenter/builder, as well as a skilled paver, mason and roofer over the years.

At the age of 24 he designed and built his first home. He worked with well-known architects on a passive solar home concept that could harness the power of the sun to heat and cool a home for under $200 a year. He started “SUNWOODS” Design/Build in the early 1990’s and his dream was to create passive solar homes that were energy saving homes and make them available to the public.

Brian was preceded in death and greeted and welcomed on the other side by his Dad, and his older brother John, both sets of Grandparents, Nana and PopPop, Mimi and Poppy, Blanche Cantwell and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, In-laws and friends.

He is survived by his Mother, Kathy Flanigan, of Florida, Judy Kaplafka, his loving companion of 33 years of Pennsylvania, his brother Jim, of Mexico, his sister Katie and John Fiske, of New Hampshire and sister Suzie and Randy Fehr, of Florida and many In-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
