Bernadine M. Marcavage, 91, of Shenandoah Heights, passed away on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.
Born in Shenandoah on May 26th, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha (Zablucky) Skubel.
She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah, where she met her high school sweetheart, the late Charles “Red” Marcavage.
Bernadine was a member of the former St. Casimir’s Parish and was active in parish activities including the church choir. She is currently a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She was a member of the Cardinal Brennan High School Mother’s Guild. Bernie was an amazing cook and had a passion for gardening. She would spend hours in her garden tending to her vegetables and flowers.
She was affectionately known as “Babci” to her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she loved spending her time with each of them.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband Charles “Red” Marcavage were brothers Frank, Leonard, Alfred, John, Benjamin, and Walter. Her sister Nelly; along with her son-in-law, Edward “Schmook” Shearn and great grandson, Ryan M. Langehennig.
Surviving are two children, Marilyn Shearn of Frackville and Charles Marcavage with his wife Teresa of Baltimore, MD; Three grandchildren, Jill Langehennig with her husband Ed, Marcie Morris with her husband Justin, and Lee Marcavage; Three great grandchildren, Evan Langehennig, Everly Morris and Violet Morris; nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 23rd from 9 to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be conducted at 11am by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. Interment will immediately follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
