Alma M. Finkel, 89, of Nuremberg, passed away on Thursday, September 1st, 2022, at the Schuylkill Medical Center – Lehigh Valley East, Pottsville, Pa.
Born on August 10th, 1933, in Derringer, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Elvin “Lefty” Griesing and Evelyna Knapp.
Alma was a graduate of the former Rock Glen High School and then worked for Fabri-Cal Plastics for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Weston, Pa. She was also a member of the Sheppton American Legion Ladies Auxilliary. Alma enjoyed polkas, bingo, going to the casino, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Besides her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Donald D. Finkel in 2010, 2 brothers, Merel and Richard Griesing, 3 sisters, Luwanda, Helen, and Evelyn, and 2 grandsons, Stephen Finkel and Jason Zulkowski.
Surviving are 3 sons, Donald Finkel – Nuremberg, David Finkel with his wife Lynn – Zion Grove, and Chris Finkel with his wife Linda – Bloomsburg. 1 sister, Loretta Schlauch – Bloomsburg, 3 grandchildren, Joel Finkel with his wife Becky, Ashley Finkel, and Collin Finkel with his fiancé Kristen, and 1 great-grandson, Kyle Finkel.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 6th from 9 to 10am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 554 Main St, Weston, Pa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am and will be officiated by Fr. Richard Polmounter. Burial to immediately follow in Nuremberg Cemetery.
